INTRODUCTION
The Mid-South Cargo Security Council is pleased to provide a scholarship program designed exclusively for dependent children and grandchildren of full-time members with a minimum of two (2) years with this council and to include dependents of the police officers involved in the cargo task force.

ELIGIBILTY
The applicant must be a dependent child or grandchild of a current two (2) year member of the Cargo Security Council, or a dependent child of an active officer in the cargo theft task force. The applicant must also be a high school senior or graduate who plans to enroll, or is a student who is already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college, university, or vocational-technical school.

AWARDS
Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $500. Students may re-apply for the scholarship for three (3) additional years, or until a bachelor’s degree is earned. Awards are for undergraduate studies only. It may be used for any educational purpose.

SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, and a written statement of eductaional and career goals. Selection of recipients is made by the Mid-South Cargo Security Council Board of Directors. All applicants agree to accept the decision of the board as final. All applicants will be notified after the decision is made. Not all applicants that apply for the scholarship will be selected as recipients. Students may re-apply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

PAYMENT
Payments are made in one installment of $500. Checks are made out to the recipient and qualifying parent, and are issued during a specified luncheon along with the council’s monthly meeting. Recipients are asked to be present, but are not mandatory. Recipients must enroll in school no later than the fall following with announcement of awards.

OBLIGATIONS
Recipients have no obligation to the Mid-South Cargo Security Council. They are, however, required to supply the council with complete transcripts and to notify the council of any changes of address, school of enrollment, or other relevant information.

REVISIONS
The Mid-South Cargo Security Council reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including the termination of the program.
